Nmblr Scout Step 1: Competitive Set

Purpose of this step: We’re agreeing the *right* competitors to focus on—so we don’t waste time analysing the wrong set.

Facilitate it

  1. Invite the team to brainstorm the list
    • Suggest competitors under three buckets: current standard of care, alternative treatments, and future threats.
    • For each competitor, use the post-it note collaboration model to quickly capture why they matter (1–2 lines). Keep it evidence-led.
  2. Align and finalize
  • Signal enthusiasm for inclusion using the ‘thumbs up’ and use the discussion modal to resolve disagreements.
  • Decision-makers: finalize the competitive set once the rationale is clear.

Assessment checklist

  • Do we have today’s reality (SoC + alternatives) and tomorrow’s risk (future threats) covered?
  • Are we clear why each competitor is in (or out)?

Supporting evidence

  • If a competitor is debated, capture the evidence and logic behind inclusion/exclusion—don’t rely on opinion.

Housekeeping rule

  • Update the relevant competitors over time. No need to delete. Archive them to preserve the data.
